Tucked into the heart of Vilnius' Old Town, Hotel PACAI is housed inside a mansion that dates all the way back to 1677. The ornate baroque mansion lived through the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the rule of Russian Tzars, and the Soviet Union before it was reborn. Over the centuries, it has played host to aristocrats, artists, and even Napoleon himself, who famously gave a speech from its balcony. (And yes, we got to stand exactly where he did — a pretty surreal moment.)

What surprised us most about Hotel PACAI is how fresh and effortless everything feels. Even though the renovation was done seven years ago, it could have easily been finished last month — everything is impeccably maintained, fresh, and thoughtfully designed. And it’s not just beautiful — it’s smart, too. It’s filled with little touches you didn’t even know you wanted: from subtle lighting to cozy nooks to that fireplace in the courtyard.
This stunning property offers 104 rooms and suites, each one mixing modern comforts with original features like exposed brick, vaulted ceilings, and soft, neutral tones. We stayed in a spacious room overlooking the quiet courtyard, which was perfect for an evening drink as soon as we checked in. Details like heated bathroom floors and plush bedding made it even harder to leave.
What really stood out to us is how authentically Lithuanian everything feels. The owners, the artists, the designers — all are proudly local. Even the décor subtly highlights Lithuanian craftsmanship, without ever feeling over the top. There’s a quiet elegance throughout the property — from the contemporary art installations to the serene courtyard tucked behind the main building. It's the kind of place that made us want to slow down, explore, and stay just a little longer.
Breakfast at Hotel PACAI ended up being one of our favorite parts of the stay. It’s a generous spread — combining a boutique-style buffet with an à la carte menu offering made-to-order dishes. Think fresh pastries, smoked salmon, rich coffee, and eggs just the way you like them! My favorite were the forest eggs - light and creamy, and perfectly paired with the buffet.
If you're looking to unwind after a day of exploring Vilnius, the hotel’s spa is a hidden gem. It’s small but beautifully designed, offering a peaceful retreat with a sauna, steam room, and a range of treatments. We loved how private and intimate it felt, like your own little sanctuary tucked away behind centuries-old walls.
Location-wise, Hotel PACAI couldn’t be better placed. It sits right in the heart of the Old Town, with most of Vilnius’ key sights just a short stroll away. We were steps from charming cobblestone streets, cozy cafes, and some of the best restaurants in the city — but the hotel itself feels completely serene once you step inside the courtyard.
It’s rare to find a hotel that feels so in tune with its surroundings — where the history is real, the design is intentional, and the stay feels both indulgent and personal. Hotel PACAI gave us such a thoughtful base to explore Vilnius from, and reminded us how much a great hotel can elevate the entire travel experience.
